This privacy policy applies to the Tally - Track Your Progress app (hereby referred to as "Application") for mobile devices, created by Cyan Villarin (hereby referred to as "Service Provider"). The Application is provided for use "AS IS", free of charge.

The things you tally are never sent to the Service Provider.

Your tallies — their names, targets, units, colours and the counts you log each day — are stored in a database on your own device. The Service Provider has no server holding them, no way to read them, and no copy of them.

The Application:

• does not require an account, sign-up or login;
• does not contain advertising;
• does not use your advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID), and does not track you across other apps or websites;
• does not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos or location;
• does not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to process your data.

The iOS version of the Application uses two Google Firebase services. Neither carries the contents of your tallies:

• Firebase Crashlytics — if the Application crashes, it sends a diagnostic report so the fault can be found and fixed. A report describes where in the code the crash happened, along with the device model and operating system version.
• Firebase Analytics — records how the Application is used in aggregate: which screens are opened, and which features are used. Events are limited by design to fixed values such as a screen name, a colour, or a count. The names you give your tallies, and the units you type, are deliberately never included, because those are your own words and could describe anything.

This information is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you. It is processed by Google as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.

The Android version of the Application currently includes neither service, and sends no analytics or crash reports at all. Should that change, this page will be updated first.

The Application can write a backup file containing all of your tallies and their logged counts. A backup does leave your device, but only to where you send it — never to the Service Provider.

• When you save a backup, your device's file picker asks where to put it. If you choose a cloud location such as iCloud Drive or Google Drive, the file is stored in your account, under that provider's terms.
• On Android, the Application also takes part in Android's system backup, which copies its data to your Google account. This is performed by the operating system; the Service Provider cannot access it. You can turn it off in your device's own backup settings.

On iOS the Application requests no permissions at all.

On Android the Application itself requests none either. Four are declared automatically by Jetpack WorkManager, a standard Android library used to refresh the home screen widgets: ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE and RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED. None of these are used to collect, read or transmit information about you.

Aside from the Google Firebase services described above, the Application contains no third-party SDKs, advertising networks or data brokers. Because the contents of your tallies are never collected, there is nothing about them that could be disclosed — including in response to a legal request.

Your tallies stay on your device for as long as the Application is installed. You are in full control of them:

• "Clear all logged counts" in the Application's Settings deletes every logged count;
• deleting an individual tally removes it and its history;
• uninstalling the Application removes all of its data from your device permanently.

Uninstalling also ends any further analytics or crash reporting. Backup files you have saved elsewhere are yours to delete, as is any system backup held in your own Google or Apple account.

The Application is not directed at children under the age of 13, and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your tallies are held in the Application's private storage area, which the operating system isolates from other apps on the device. Diagnostic and analytics data is transmitted to Google over an encrypted connection.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by updating this page. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.

This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-08-01.
